This course will teach you the skills required to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (ewp) with a boom height of 11 metres or more. With MultiSkills ewp training, you’ll learn how to operate, set-up, position and work safely from a boom-type elevated work platform. In this instance, a boom-type elevating work platform can refer to a hinged device, an articulated device, a telescoping device or a combination of any of these, which are then used to support a platform for elevated materials and personnel.

Before being able to successfully undertake this type of elevated work platform training, students will need to complete pre-training study material supplied by MultiSkills training to ensure that they have the required knowledge for the course. The ewp license assessment will include knowledge, performance and calculations evaluations by your instructor.

This course will teach you the skills to:

  • Operate an elevating work platform with a platform height 11 metres or more
  • Position, stabilise and set up elevating work platforms
  • Understand elevating work platform characteristics and capabilities
  • Estimation of loads
  • Effective communication skills
  • Identify hazards and assess risks associated with operation
  • Conduct pre-operational checks and identify faults
  • Check and assess condition of safety harness and lanyard
