Gain the skills you need

Dogging consists of two key abilities. These are the slinging techniques employed for moving a load, including the inspection and selection of any lifting equipment, and the skill to direct a crane or hoist operator who is moving a load that is out of their view. Undertaken across 5 days at either our Geelong or Werribee campus, MultiSkills’ dogging training course will offer you everything you need to learn the skills required of you as a dogman.

If you’re not certain this is the right dogging training course for you or you simply want to know more about what MultiSkills can offer, contact our efficient staff via phone on 1800SKILLS or visit our contact us page.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dogman ticket?

A dogman ticket is a Worksafe licence to perform high risk work. It’s a certification that a worker must legally hold to undertake dogging work on a jobsite. Essential to a wide variety of industrial, civil, mining, gas and construction projects, dogmen handle the manoeuvring and slinging of loads including tools, materials and equipment.

How much is a dogman ticket?

Getting a dogman ticket requires both theory and practical training and assessment. At MultiSkills Training, you can undertake training and get assessed for your dogman licence for $1500 per person.

What is the difference between a dogman and a rigger?

The work of dogmen and riggers will often look similar, but there are tasks and responsibilities that a rigger can take on that dogmen can’t. Where a dogman can select and inspect lifting gear, sling loads, and direct a crane or hoist operator in the movement of loads; a licenced rigger can move plant and equipment, erect steel and materials hoists, install static lines and safety nets, and erect a variety personnel platforms, safety nets and static lines. Important to note though, both dogmen and riggers need to have an HRW Licence to undertake their work.
