Haul trucks are off-highway, articulated haul trucks specifically engineered for use in high-production mining and heavy-duty construction environments. MultiSkills Training provides haul truck training for students at our fully equipped Geelong training facility or on clients sites. Dump truck licence holders require a certificate of competency to obtain their qualifications.

In this truck training course, you will learn the skills to conduct haul truck operations in the building and civil construction industry. It includes: planning and preparing; conducting machine pre-operational checks; operating Haul trucks; lifting, carrying and placing materials; selecting, relocating the Haul truck; carrying out machine operator maintenance; and cleaning up.

This course will teach you the skills to:

  • Understand haul truck types, capabilities and characteristics
  • Calculate safe working loads
  • Apply site and equipment safety requirements
  • Carry out basic earthworks calculations

Once participants have completed the haul truck training course, they will have completed a nationally recognised certification.

Eligibility

  • As MultiSkills Training is not CRICOS approved we are unable to enrol any students that are on a student VISA, if you are on a student VISA you will need to go to a TAFE or RTO that is CRICOS approved.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)

MultiSkills Training has reviewed the structure and delivery of this unit and determined that Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is not offered for this course.

Due to the short duration of the program, the time and effort required for a student to gather sufficient evidence and complete a formal RPL application is likely to exceed the time it would take to complete the training and assessment. In addition, the RTO resources required to assess and validate RPL applications for this course make the process not viable or efficient in this context.

This decision aligns with the guidance outlined in the Outcome Standards Policy Guidance (Standards for RTOs 2025), which recognises that RPL may not be appropriate or practical in all circumstances.
