Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a Bobcat and a skid steer?

A skid steer loader is a machine used to dig, collect, lift and move material, particularly dirt and sand, and also grade, jackhammer cement and load trucks. Other activities include site clean-up, spreading material, road sweeping, backfill, load and removal material, and turf preparation.. A Bobcat is a brand of skid steer. These machines are great for improving efficiency on a job site and can be used to complete a range of different tasks.

Why is it called a skid steer?

A skid steer gets its name from the fact that it’s left and right wheels turn independently of each other, meaning it can turn or skid in place. Given the unique design of a skid steer, operators can use them to easily move throughout a busy construction site. These machines can be used for many different tasks, including clearing land, digging holes and transporting heavy items or equipment.

How much can you make with a skid steer?

You can make a lot of money using a skid steer. With the right training, you can fit all types of tools and attachments to the mechanical arms. This means you can take on excavation work, rubbish removal, digging and more, which are all useful skills. How much you can make will also depend on how efficient you are as an operator.
